The most easterly of ABP’s ports in South Wales, Newport provides multimodal freight facilities with direct sea access, direct links to the national rail network and easy access to the M4 and M5 motorways.

Overview

Located in the M4 corridor and close to the M5, Newport occupies a prime location from which to service the UK’s main industrial and commercial regions in South Wales and the Midlands. The Port also benefits from rail and sea access making this a strategic multi-modal transport location, and offers direct quayside access capable of accommodating vessels of up to 40,000 dwt. ABP has invested significantly in Newport over the past few years, in schemes such as new warehousing facilities, open storage areas, additional rail sidings as well as a wind turbine which generates the equivalent amount of electricity required to power more than 1,300 homes. . The Port of Newport if is a steel, metals, recycling and renewable energy hub. Existing occupiers on the Port include Sims Recycling, Origin Fertilisers, W.E. Dowds (Shipping) Ltd, International Timber and Speedy Hire. The port has significant development opportunities available for the design and construction of bespoke business space.

Location

Situated in south-east Wales, Newport is conveniently close to the M4 at junctions 28 and 24, providing direct access to London in two and a half hours, and easy access to the Midlands via the nearby M5. Situated on the main line between Cardiff and London, Newport has direct rail services to Cardiff, Swansea, Manchester, Birmingham, Holyhead, Nottingham, Birmingham, Bristol and London. Its local airport is Cardiff.
